COMMUNITY

SIGNATURE EVENTS

Our faith community of 1700 registered families, like many parishes had humble beginnings. The first mass celebrated in Lemoore was in 1909, in a private home and conducted by Father O’Brien, the Pastor of St. Paul’s Church in Coalinga. The property on 19 Follett Street where St. Peter’s was built was purchased in 1911 and the first Mass was held there in February 1912. Father Manual Salvador was the first pastor.

In 1994, Msgr. John O’Friel , formed a new church building committee to build a new church to accommodate our growing Parish on property donated by Guy and Pearl Basasci and extended families. Four pastors and many years later we credit and thank our Pastor, Msgr. John Coelho-Harguindeguy for completing our dream, and the first mass in the new church was celebrated on October 2, 2011.

Our beautiful and comfortable, new church building at 870 North Lemoore Avenue seats 1500. The Holy Family daily chapel which contains all of the treasures from the original Saint Peter’s Church, incorporated to give it the look and feel of the original Saint Peters, seats 150. More recently, our new offices and The Holy Spirit Daily Adoration Chapel have been added to the property .

ST. PETER'S PARISH

Rachael Manzo brings a wealth of experience to Mary Immaculate School. After receiving her Bachelor of Arts in Education and multiple subject teaching credential from California Lutheran University in Thousand Oaks, California, she returned to her hometown of Santa Barbara to teach Theology and Student Government at Bishop Garcia Diego High School. During her years at Bishop Diego Rachael held various roles including Assistant to the Head of School, Student Activities Director, Head Cheer Coach, and most recently was the Director of Alumni Relations working on the Advancement team focusing on enrollment growth, fiscal development, and relationship building with those who have graduated from the institution. Having her sights set on being a principal, Rachael returned to school and graduated with a Master of Arts in Educational Leadership. As a dedicated leader, Rachael brings a strong connection to her faith and passion for Christ. She believes that it is critical for the next leader to focus not only on academic excellence, but also on building community and communication with all stakeholders.
Rachael was attracted to Mary Immaculate Queen School for its “academic excellence, deep rooted history, thriving parish community, familial atmosphere, and countless opportunities to educate the whole child.” Rachael clearly understands the mission of MIQ and embraces its core values, traditions and potential for growth. She is eager to devote her whole heart into working with the MIQ community to continue to build on the school’s extraordinary heritage and aspirations for the future.
Once school begins, Rachael can be found on the playground at MIQ during lunch periods or in her office, which is always open. If she's not on campus, it is most likely after-hours and she is probably walking her dog Luna or cooking! Rachael is one of six children and maintains strong relationships with her family back in Santa Barbara. She also looks forward to exploring Lemoore and building new relationships!
